Agartala: As part of the mass COVID-19 vaccination drive across urban local bodies and Autonomous District Council (ADC) areas, as many as 15,358 persons in the 18-44 years age group were vaccinated in a day in Tripura.
In all, 18,890 people were vaccinated on Monday, including 15,358 in the age group of 18-44 years, 2,352 in the 45-59 years and 967 in the age group of 60 years and above.
As many as 5,047 people from West Tripura district received the COVID-19 doses. This was followed by Sepahijala at 3,782, Dhalai at 1,979, North Tripura at 1,789, Gomati at 1,382, South Tripura at 631, Unakoti at 458 and Khowai at 344 people.
A total of 301 centres were opened for the process including 231 facility centres and 72 health facility centres across the state. The state government has so far vaccinated 78,445 people above 18 years of age.
Currently, the state has a stock of 4,74,610 vaccines. Another 1,13,520 Covishield vaccines are in the pipeline.
Meanwhile, Tripura on Tuesday reported 235 fresh cases of novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours taking the tally of active cases to 4,423 so far. The state reported 105 deaths in the 14 days of June, which is the highest in any month since the first wave.
The state government has taken measures to develop the health infrastructure and deploy health staff, but the death march has continued across the state.
A total of 5,075 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, of 235 people were found to be positive for COVID-19, with a positivity rate of 4.63 per cent.
Similarly, the recovery rate has increased to 91.48 per cent. Meanwhile, the death rate has reduced to 1.05 per cent. With the death of four more persons, the COVID-19 caseload has surged to 621 in the state.
West Tripura district continues to be at the top of the list of infections, according to the health department’s media bulletin. In the last 24 hours, 81 corona cases were reported in the district, followed by 20 in Gomati, 12 in Khowai, 31 in Dhalai, 17 in Sepahijala, 20 in North Tripura, 20 in Unakoti and 34 in South Tripura district.
