Agartala: A statement made by former Tripura minister and CPI-M MLA Bhanu Lal Saha has turned into a controversy as multiple cases have been filed against him in various police stations of the state for making provocative remarks.
Speaking with reporters, law minister Ratan Lal Nath said: “The officer in-charge of Amtali police station has taken the matter to the notice of the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. Saha and CPI-M will be responsible if any riot or law and order situation arises in Tripura,” Nath said.
On May 30, Bhanu Lal Saha had written on social media, “In the mass resistance against their bricks, kicks, petrol bombs, etc., keep sticks, dau, shovel, boti dau, ax, khanti, iron pipe, etc. at hand, regardless of men, women, teenagers or old people. Have the courage to confront the invaders from outside. It is not a crime to take up defence in self-defence. It is impossible to defend one’s life and property without confrontation. Youth, you are on fire. Be prepared. Hundreds of thousands of young men were formed. Stay in the lead by actively involving the people of the area.”
Nath said that the CPI-M, which had been ousted from power in the past, had made provocative statements several times in the past. Having lost power again, they are now engaged in a heinous conspiracy to seize power through the back door.
The law minister also said that whenever the CPI-M was out of power they conspired against the government and even took the help of extremism until the fall of the government.
“Their nature is to create anarchy in a planned manner. That is how the CPI-M has ruled Tripura for 35 years with the ‘vegetarian weapon’. Bhanu Lal Saha and the CPI-M will be responsible for the next riot or law and order situation due to the provocative remarks of the CPIM MLA,” Nath added.
According to him, the CPI-M has now lost public support in Tripura, just like the recent defeat in the ADC election.
“Such a controversial and provocative message is being given for the purpose of creating panic among the people. Their conspiracy will not succeed in any way. The people now know the CPI-M leaders well. The behaviour of Bhanu Lal Saha and the CPI-M in the corona situation is unfortunate. I urge everyone to be alert and aware,” the law minister added.
