Agartala: Over 500 people were fined in the capital for flouting the corona curfew imposed across the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) in the wake of the novel Coronavirus, a police official said.
Speaking with reporters, Ramesh Yadav, Sadar sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) said that a 10-day corona curfew was imposed in Agartala municipal area from today, and maximum people have been following the order.
“Around 500 people have been fined for violating the social distance and not wearing the face masks,” Yadav said.
As per the notification issued by the West District Magistrate Raval Hamendra Kumar, the people of AMC need to stay indoors during the corona curfew except for essential or emergency needs.
The restrictions in the Agartala municipal area started from Monday 5 am, and continue till May 26.
All cinema halls, shopping malls, gymnasiums, sports complexes, stadiums, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars, auditoriums, assembly halls and other public places remained closed.
However, essential and emergency services are outside the ambit of the corona curfew. Shops dealing in essential goods, like groceries, fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat, and fish can operate between 5 am and 6 pm.
