Agartala: Tripura government has extended the night curfew in Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) area till May 31 in view of the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in the state.

An order copy issued by Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar reads, “…Corona night curfew imposed between 10 PM to 5 AM in Agartala Municipal Corporation area will be extended up to 31st May, 2021.”

The night curfew across the AMC area will begin from May 1, Saturday. The curfew timings are 10 pm to 5 am. Earlier the night curfew was imposed from April 22 to April 30.

However, medical and other emergency needs and persons to maintain essential services like health, police, security, power supply, drinking water supply, media etc shall remain exempted from the curfew guidelines.

As per the order, restrictions have been imposed on holding various public meetings and rallies. A total of 200 people can gather outdoors and a maximum of 100 people can gather in halls or community center.

As per the order, restrictions have been imposed on holding various public meetings and rallies. A total of 200 people can gather outdoors and a maximum of 100 people can gather in the hall or community center.

Cinema halls will be allowed to function with a maximum of 50 per cent of the audience. In addition, 100 people will be allowed to attend the wedding or social event and 20 people will be allowed to attend the funeral.

Earlier, the state government postponed the pre-board exams of Class X and Class XII students and semester for the college and university students.

Meanwhile, a total of 7,00,860 samples have tested, out of which 35,028 tested positive with 393 deaths, 1,020 active cases and 33,555 recovered cases so far.
