Agartala: The Left has made the provision of outsourcing. However, to confuse the youth and the unemployed ahead of the ADC elections, the Leader of the Opposition and former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has made false and untrue statements, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said on Saturday.
Nath said the Left Front government made this law in 2011 (The Delegation of Financial Powers Rules, 2011). “Although the law was amended in 2017, outsourcing was not ruled out by the Manik Sarkar-led Left Front government,” he said.
“The Tripura government will not hire people for any permanent posts through outsourcing,” Nath said.
Former chief minister and opposition leader Manik Sarkar on Friday demanded that the decision to hire an agency to recruit people through outsourcing in Tripura be withdrawn. He said the decision of the Tripura government was “dangerous, completely immoral and amounted to declaring war on the unemployed.”
The Education Minister, however, chose to counter Sarkar’s concerns by saying that the BJP-IPFT coalition government led by Biplab Deb has not initiated outsourcing in Tripura. “People have been recruited under that rule more than once in the past. The previous Left Front government started it.”
He said, “900 people were recruited through outsourcing in the JICA project during the Left period. However, knowing everything, the former Chief Minister lied fluently.”
The education minister said the present government wanted outsourcing through agencies in order to maintain transparency in recruitment. “The Tripura government will not outsource any permanent posts,” he said.
He explained the outsourced hiring was only for Central projects that need emergency recruitment on a contractual basis. Nath accused the former CM of giving “motivated” statements ahead of the ADC elections.
“He has deliberately lied ahead of the ADC election with the intention of angering the youth and the unemployed. It is difficult to think that he is not aware of the laws made while he was in the government,” Nath said.
