Agartala: The Agartala Smart City (ASC) has decided that two city gates will be erected at the entrance of Agartala—Khayerpur and Amtali, in an attempt to attract the tourists by presenting the beauty of Tripura.
A team of ASC advisory committee on Thursday visited Amtali to inspect the identified area for the proposed city gate.
Speaking with reporters, Dr Dilip Das, chairman of advisory committee said that a decision was taken in the meeting that two gates would be erected in two entry points of the city which will be a major attraction for the tourists coming to the state.
“We have visited the proposed sites for the construction of the city gate in two points—Northern and Southern part of Agartala. The gates could be seen from a distance by the visitors having the architect work, showcasing the tradition of Tripura”, Das said.
The Agartala Smart City has a total of 66 projects including the two city gates that would be installed shortly.
The city gate in Khayerpur would showcase the beauty of Unakoti pilgrim site, while the gate in Amtali would reflect the beauty of Matabari and Neermahal tourism site with mix of tradition and model along with two big LED displays on both sides, West district magistrate Shailesh Kumar Yadav said.
“The main purpose would be for those who will be visiting from outside the state, they should get the feel of what is there in our state. The prominent tourist places in the state will be showcased. The tender process has been completed and work has been awarded”, Yadav said.
He also said that two city gates would cost Rs 5.2 crore and the agency is on board to undertake the work.
