Agartala: The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) is considering to conduct its first ever ‘Bochor Bachao’ examinations in September once the answer-script review process gets completed, said Bhabatosh Saha, president of the board, on Saturday.

The 'Bochor Bachao' or 'save the year' scheme was announced by the education minister Ratan Lal Nath earlier this year.

Under the new scheme, in case a student fails in two subjects, but the aggregate is secured over 150 marks, he would be given another chance to sit for re-test within 75 days of results after proper coaching from the schools.

Speaking with reporters, Saha said that the TBSE is accepting applications from students who have applied for reviewing their results or grades which they have secured in boards. The results of the board examination was announced for Madhyamik (Class-X) with 64.49 pass percent and Higher Secondary (Class-XII) with 80.80 pass percentage.

“The process of paper review has started and this will continue till the end of August. Meanwhile, preparations for holding the first ever ‘Bochor Bachao examination under TBSE has started," Saha said.

He also said that the advertising for the ‘Bochor Bachaoexamination will start from August 20 and the exams are likely to be held in the month of September if everything goes according to plans amidst this COVID-19 pandemic.

He also said that the board has received over 5,000 applications from the students for reviewing 17,082 papers.

“The board has inducted more than hundred teachers to review the papers for which the applications were made by the students. The process will continue till August 24 next," the TBSE president said.

Speaking further, Saha explained the scheme of Bochor Bachao and said that one student can apply for review in a maximum of three subjects. On reviewing the papers, marks of a student may change, thus the new scheme will ensure that the student can sit for re-test within 72 days after announcement of results.

The TBSE had announced the results of the Class XII (Arts, Commerce and Science) exams on July 31 with an average pass percentage of 80.80% compared to 80.51 last year.
