Tripura Class XII board exam results declared; pass percentage at 80.80%

Arts stream records pass percentage of 79.52%; 78.56% clears from Commerce stream and 89.85% science stream students clear exam this year

Agartala: The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) on Friday announced the results of the Class XII (Arts, Commerce and Science) exams with an average pass percentage of 80.80 per cent compared to 80.51 last year.

Announcing the results, TBSE president Dr Bhabatosh Saha said due to the pandemic, the exams for nine subjects—economics, geography, psychology, Sanskrit and others were postponed initially and re-scheduled from June 5 to June 11.

“The exams started from March 2 was scheduled to end by March 31, however, the exams were later suspended due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic and extension of lockdown," Saha said.

Speaking about the results, Saha said that 79.52 per cent of students appearing from Arts stream have passed the exams, while 78.56 per cent students from Commerce stream and 89.85 per cent from Science stream cleared the board examination this year.

A total of 27,147 students appeared, out of which 26,400 appeared in the exams this year. These include 13,460 male and 12,940 female students.

“A total of 3,173 students appeared from science stream, 636 from commerce and the highest 22,561 students appeared from arts stream," Saha added.

He also said among the eight districts of the state, Sepahijala has recorded the highest pass ratio with 84.27 per cent while Dhalai recorded the least with 73.84 percent.

The results of the Scheduled Tribe (ST) segment have slightly improved with 68.53 per cent compared to 65.26 per cent previous year. The Scheduled Caste segment recorded at 83.81 per cent against 82.11 last year’s result.

“In the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council Areas (TTAADC) the results have improved with 70.68 pass per cent in compared to 67.66 per cent recorded last year," TBSE president said.

The results of the Madrassa segment was also announced by the board, where a total of 28 candidates appeared in Madrassa Fazil exam, 95 appeared in Madrasa Alim papers.

“A total of 72.94 per cent of candidates who appeared Madrassa Alim cleared the exams, while 76.47 per cent passed in Fazil segment and 63.64 per cent passed arts papers," Saha said.
