Tripura govt announces complete lockdown on July 5

Tripura government has decided to observe a complete lockdown on Sunday exempting emergency services from restrictions imposed, said law minister Ratan Lal Nath

Agartala: Tripura government has announced complete lockdown on Sunday, July 5, exempting emergency services from the restrictions imposed, announced state law minister Ratan Lal Nath.

Speaking at a press conference, Nath said that the state government has decided to observe a complete lockdown on Sunday. Although the state is in a good position but would not like to take any risk and intensify restrictions in containment zones.

“We do not want to take any risk, restrictions in containment zones will be followed more strictly. The fine money for not wearing masks has been revised to Rs 200 from Rs 100 on first offence and Rs 400 from Rs 200 for second offence”, Nath said.

He also said that the state government was compelled to announce the lockdown for the sake of 37 lakh people of Tripura.

“All offices and establishments would remain closed on Sunday. However emergency service will remain operational”, Nath added.

Speaking further he said that although the lockdown has been called on Sunday but the government has no plan for extending the lockdown right away.

“Presently we are in a good position in North East and India. We have started a 100 percent sample collection of all incoming passengers of train and flight from June 26 last”, Nath said.

He also said that Kartanaka is among several other states to have announced complete Lockdown on Sunday as a measure against the spread of coronavirus.
