Agartala: May 29. Ten more persons have tested positive for the COVID-19 on Friday, taking the total number of positive cases to 254 in the state.
A total of 915 persons were tested for COVID-19 out of which 10 persons including eight returnees from Bangladesh, one from Gurugram, Haryana and 1 from 86th bn of BSF in Ambassa under Dhalai district.
Taking to twitter, chief minister Biplab Kumar’s Deb informed this development, “10 people found COVID-19 #POSITIVE in Tripura today after test of 915 persons. (1 person Gurugram returnee, 8 are Bangladesh returnees & 1 person is from 86 BN BSF).
Airport passengers all tested negative.
Govt is taking all precautionary measures to keep everyone secure.”
Law minister Ratan Lal Nath said that on Thursday 1050 samples of people returning from Mumbai, Chennai, and Bangalore were tested, among them 2 persons were found positive for the virus.
Presently Tripura has 70 active COVID-19 cases, among them 69 are being treated at COVID care centre and one at COVID-19 hospital, GB Pant hospital, while 171 of them have discharged after recovery. Three persons had migrated, Nath said.
He also said that on Friday, 1,441 samples were collected from across the state and 850 samples including 106 samples of those who returned from Bangladesh are being tested. A total of 26,938 samples have been collected of which 25,403 samples have been tested. The test per million in Tripura now stands at 6,355.
A total of 29,359 persons were placed under surveillance, out of which 18,078 persons were released after completion of 14 days’ observation period. While there are 510 persons in facility quarantine while 10,771 persons in-home quarantine as on Friday.
