Tripura: Two more persons test positive for COVID-19; total 244

1050 samples were tested for COVID-19 on Thursday, out of which 2 samples were positive, both had returned from Maharashtra in a Shramik Special Train

Agartala: Two more persons have tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday in Tripura, taking the total number of positive cases to 244 so far.

A total of 1050 samples were tested on Wednesday of which 2 samples tested positive. Both the persons have returned from Maharashtra.

Taking to twitter, chief minister Biplab Kumar’s Deb informed this development, “1050 samples have been tested today for COVID-19, out of which 2 people detected #POSITIVE.

Both of them have returned from Maharashtra.

Law minister Ratan Lal Nath said while the number of positive cases soars to 242 the state government has started increasing the number of tests across the state. He also said that although the number of case has increased but the number of active cases stands at 72 only.

“Presently Tripura has 72 active COVID-19 cases, among them 71 are being treated at COVID care centre and one in COVID-19 hospital at GB Pant hospital, while 167 of them have discharged after recovery”, Nath said.

He also said that on Thursday, 1,043 samples were collected from across the state and 850 samples are being tested. A total of 25,697 samples have been collected of which 24,126 samples have been tested. The test per million in Tripura now stands at 5,819.

“Among the 10 persons who tested positive on Wednesday four are from Sepahijala and five from Dhalai district, while one was railway pantry staff and he was admitted in Kanpur hospital.

A total of 28,081 persons were placed under surveillance, out of which 17,867 persons were released after completion of 14 days’ observation period. While there are 343 persons in facility quarantine while 9,871 persons in-home quarantine as on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, in view to strengthen the quarantine centre in the state, the central government has decided to supply more real-time PCR kits to the Tripura government.
