Tripura to recruit 63 agriculture officers directly through TPSC

Tripura has 383 sanctioned posts for agriculture officers, of which 245 are lying vacant. State govt now decides to recruit 63 agriculture officers directly through TPSC

Agartala: With the state’s agriculture department facing shortage of agriculture officers, the Tripura cabinet on Tuesday decided to recruit 63 agriculture officers through the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC), informed chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb.

Taking to Twitter, Deb Announced this development, “We have decided to fill up 63 sanctioned posts of Agriculture Officers (Group-B, Gazetted).The recruitment process will be done through TPSC by maintaining 100 percent roster.”

Tripura has a total of 383 sanctioned posts for agriculture officers (TAFS Grade-I, Group-B gazetted), of which 138 officers are currently discharging their duties.

The cabinet has decided to approve these posts after the department requested to fill the vacant posts as it was running short of the 245 officers making it difficult to manage the system.

The officers will get a pay scale of Rs 10,220 to 34,800 with grade pay of Rs 4,800 and pay level-13 on regular basis through direct recruitment by TPSC.

Meanwhile, it was learned that since 2011 no recruitment was done in the agriculture department even through a number of posts remained vacant for years.

Tripura has a total of 10,43,169 hectare land area of which a total of 2,55,070 hectare is net cropped area. In around 2,19,428 hectare area crops are grown more than once in a year.

The cabinet has also decided to support hawkers of the state with financial assistance of Rs 1,000 to 32 hawkers from the chief minister’s relief fund.

Earlier on May 14, chief minister had announced financial support for 404 newspaper hawkers in the state with Rs 1,000 as relief to their families in view of COVID-19 situation.
