Agartala: Tripura government has decided to use the Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC) exhibition centre for setting up a 1,000 bedded COVID-19 facility.

The chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb took to his twitter and informed, “In addition to our collective efforts for strengthening healthcare services to fight the COVID19 pandemic, we have decided to set up one 1000-bed centre at TIDC Exhibition Centre, Hapania.

Besides, one PHC has also been identified in Unakoti district for a 20-bed COVID19 centre”, Deb wrote.


This is in addition to 520 bed dedicated COVID-19 Hospital, COVID-19 health centre and a COVID-19 care centre set up in Agartala and five other districts of the state.

Tripura has identified 90-bed capacity COVID-19 care centres in five districts of the state including Gomati, South district, Dhalai, Khowai and North Tripura.

Tripura government received five ventilators from the Tata Trust on Tuesday increasing the number of ICU beds in the state.

A total of 1,183 samples were collected on Tuesday from across the state, out of which 700 samples were being tested in the lab. Currently only 46 persons are at Saheed Bhagat Singh COVID care centre and five persons in GBP hospital.

So far in Tripura 18,604 persons have been placed under surveillance, out of which 14,003 persons were released after completion of 14 days observation period. Currently there are 253 persons in facility quarantine while 4,343 persons in-home quarantine”, Nath added.

A total of 16,269 samples have been collected out of which 15,083 have been tested of which 169 tested positive while 116 persons have recovered so far in the state. After releasing of 27 patients on Tuesday, the total active cases in Tripura now stands at 51.
