625 samples tested for COVID-19 on Saturday; 11 persons, including 7 BSF jawans & 4 civilians from Churaibari gate, found positive in Tripura; state’s tally now stands at 167
Agartala: Eleven more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Tripura, including seven BSF jawans from the 86th battalion of BSF unit in Ambassa under Dhalai district and four civilians from Churaibari gate under North Tripura district.
Taking to Twitter, chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb announced the development: “625 samples have been tested for #COVID19 and among them 11 persons found #COVID19 POSITIVE.
7 people from 86-Bn BSF & 4 civilian from Churaibari Gate (2 drivers from other state, 2 people returned from Guwahati). All the POSITIVE patients are under proper medical care.”
With this, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Tripura now stands at 167, of which 159 cases have come from the BSF units in Ambassa where the first case was reported on May 2.
Earlier on Friday, speaking in a press conference, state law minister Ratan Lal Nath said that a total of 40 BSF jawans including their family members from Ambassa unit have been released from the COVID care centre and hospital.
At present, 64 patients are at Saheed Bhagat Singh COVID care centre, 47 at GB Pant hospital and one at Salbagan BSF headquarters.
“A total of 611 samples were under process for tests out of which 350 had already been tested negative till 6 pm in the evening. The per million test in Tripura now stands at 3,142,” Nath added.
In Tripura, 15,902 persons were placed under surveillance, of which 12,667 persons were released after completion of 14 days’ observation period. Currently, there are 300 persons in facility quarantine while 2,935 persons in-home quarantine,” Nath added.
A total of 13,172 samples have been collected out of which 12,561 have been tested of which 156 tested positive while 42 persons have recovered so far in the state.
