Financial support of Rs 5,000 with free ration must be provided to each family of daily-wage labourers for a month amid coronavirus threat, says CPI-M leader Gautam Das
Agartala: The Opposition CPI-M in Tripura on Sunday demanded free ration and Rs 5,000 as financial support for a month to the families of daily-wage labourers who are facing problems due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking at a press conference, CPI-M state secretary Gautam Das said that chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb had appealed to the people to stay at their homes as a precautionary measure to stop the spread of coronavirus following which the labourers would facie massive work crisis.
“The state government should immediately take measures for those facing a severe crisis of work. Work has stopped across the state and the working-class people, who depend on their daily wages, are suffering,” Das said.
Speaking further, he said that the BJP-Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) government must take the initiative to support the families that would face massive shortage of food in absence of work.
“A financial support of Rs 5,000 with free ration must be provided to each family for a month to the working class people by the government. The families can be identified with the help of local administration and government agencies,” Das added.
Das also urged the government to transfer funds to the accounts of those people immediately before the coronavirus gets more dangerous turn.
