Apart from distributing leaflets, CM Biplab Kumar Deb also had interactions with local residents on how to prevent the spread of deadly coronavirus aka COVID-19
Agartala: Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Monday started a door-to-door campaign to spread awareness on prevention of coronavirus among the people living in bordering areas of Kailashahar in Unakoti district.
Apart from distributing leaflets, Deb also had interactions with the local population on how to prevent the spread of the deadly virus that has claimed over 7,000 people around the world.
Speaking to reporters, Deb said that so far no positive case had been reported in Tripura but people need to be careful and maintain cleanliness everywhere.
“The state government, as part of precautionary measure, had announced the closure of all schools, colleges and other educational institutions along with cinema halls, gymnasium and swimming pools from March 17 to March 31,” Deb said.
Besides, a prohibitory order under Section 144 promulgated to impose restriction on movement of five people or more together would remain in force till March 31, he added.
“Tripura shares border with Bangladesh and some cases have been reported from the neighbouring country. Keeping this in mind, the BSF has also been put on alert for intensifying vigil along the border,” he said.
Later, the chief minister also chaired a review meeting of officials from Unakoti district including the Sabadhipati of Unakoti Zilla Parishad, MLAs, DM, SP, BDOs, chairperson of Panchayat Samiti and BAC, among others.
In the meeting, the chief minister discussed the present status of various ongoing developmental works, flagship programmes and schemes.
“Rs 200 crore has been sanctioned by the ADB for various works including beautification, drainage system and improvement of road condition under 19 municipal councils. The state already received Rs 20 crore for preparing the DPR and tendering process,” he told reporters.
After reviewing the progress of works, Deb said that he observed the average person days generation under MGNREGA and the progress of Ayushman Tripura implementation in Kailashahar was a bit less as compared to the state-level average and to overcome that he suggested mission mode work.
The officials concerned have been asked to take initiatives so that the gaps are fulfilled and the flagship schemes are implemented on mission mode, Deb added.
