Agartala: With an appeal to save Constitution and education, a joint forum of students, scholars, teachers, professors and retired employees of Tripura Central University held a protest march at their campus here recently.

Speaking with reporters, Salim Shah, faculty member form the economics department, said, “We are probably forgetting that this is the land of Kaviguru Rabindra Tagore, Vidyasagar, Kabir, Guru Nanak and Lalan Fakir.”

“Whatever is happening across the country is a matter of concern and we should keep in mind that the country has been an ‘argumental India’ and even before framing of the Indian constitution there was a debate and deliberation before presenting a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic constitution to the country,” Shah said.

Speaking further, Shah said that the people with power at their hands have tried to stop the agitators from holding the rally, but they will not be suppressed and would continue their stir unless the situation is brought back into normalcy.

The students and faculty members later held a gathering in the varsity campus where students, faculties and other employees also registered their protest.
