Agartala: The Indo-Bangladesh meeting between the district magistrates (DM) and deputy commissioners (DC) is being held at Agartala state guest house to discuss on cross border issues that include smuggling, human trafficking and other developmental works.
Speaking with EastMojo, West district magistrate N Sandeep Mahatme said that a cluster-5 level DM-DC meeting is being held here in Agartala and a number of issues will be discussed here.
“There would be a detailed presentation from the district magistrates and deputy commissioners on various issues,” Mahatme said.
The meeting is being attend by three district magistrates (DMs) of Tripur and administrative from four districts of Bangladesh along with border security forces.
The districts include Khowai, Sepahijala and West Tripura districts of Tripura and the deputy commissioners, police administration of Comilla, Brahmanbaria, Moulvibazar and Habiganj districts of Bangladesh. In addition, BSF and BGB (border security forces) also attend the meeting.
A 33-member delegation led by Comilla deputy commissioner Abul Fazal Mir had arrived in Tripura through the Agartala-Akhaura border on Tuesday.
“Comilla deputy commissioner Md Abul Fazal Mir is leading the delegation. Besides, the deputy commissioner of Brahmanbaria, Hayat-ud-Daula Khan, Moulvibazar deputy commissioner Nazia Shirin and Habiganj deputy commissioner Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, are other district administration and BGB officials,” Mahatme said.
Speaking at the meeting, Comilla deputy commissioner Md Abul Fazal Mir said that talks will be held to resolve the problems at the border. In it, some issues be discussed in details about the prevention of drug trafficking and border pillars.
Earlier, the last district and deputy commissioner-level meetings were held between the two countries on May 27, 2019.
