Non-bailable warrant issued against Bamutia MLA Krishnadhan Das for failure to appear in court over case related to holding rally & gheraoing then CM Manik Sarkar’s house in 2017
Agartala: A court of judicial magistrate has issued a non-bailable warrant against ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Krishnadhan Das for not appearing in court on Saturday over a case related to holding a rally and gheraoing then chief minister Manik Sarkar’s residence in 2017.
Magistrate Sanjan Lal Tripura was hearing a case filed against 12 persons, including Das, in the West Agartala police station with case number PRC (WP) 233 of 2017.
During the previous Left Front government, 12 BJP leaders were booked including Jahar Saha, Papiya Datta, Subal Bhowmik, Rajib Bhattacharjee, Kalyani Roy, Pratima Bhowmik, Ratul Dey, Tapas Majumder, Tapas Bhattacharjee and Rajendra Dhyani for holding a rally and gheraoing then chief minister Manik Sarkar’s house.
Das is a sitting MLA from Bamutia constituency from the ruling BJP in the 60-seat state assembly.
“The court had granted bail warrant against Tapas Majumder and Jahar Saha. Accordingly, the adjournment petition on behalf of Tapas Majumder and Jahar Saha is rejected but allowed in respect of the rest after hearing both the sides,” the court order read.
It also said that “there are two more accused persons, namely Krishnadhan Das and Ranita Banik. A bail warrant was issued against Ranita Banik but no execution report was received. A non-bailable warrant was issued against Krishnadhan Das but no report was execution report was received,” it further read.
Till receiving of aforesaid report the effective order for causing appearance of accused persons namely Jahar Saha, Tapas Majumder and Ranita Banik has been kept reserved.
The court has also directed the concerned police station to submit the report for not executing the order of non-bailable warrant against MLA Das.
“…forward a copy of this order to the concerned PS to submit a report regarding non-execution of NBWA against accused Krishnadhan Das. Also forward a copy of this order to CTSI, Court PS Sadar to ensure proper communication of the contents,” the court ordered.
The court also said it is made clear that since the case is against the standing MP /MLA s the matter has to be disposed of on priority basis and no accommodation shall be made which may cause delay in disposal.
The court has fixed the next date of hearing on February 03 next for execution report, appearance and necessary order.
