Agartala: The Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress organised a mass gathering in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of citizen (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR) with the slogan to remove the Modi government.

Speaking with reporters Krishna Allavaru, joint secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC), who is also the in-charge of Indian Youth Congress (IYC), said they have organised the ‘Akrosh Rally’ against the NDA government for using the CAA, NRC and NPR as a tool to play politics.

“The government in state and Centre should give more focus in issues related to jobs, unemployment, the rising price of essential commodities, corruption and death of farmers rather than implementing one after other policies like NRC, CAA, NPR”, Allavaru said.

He also said the Centre is doing all the tricks to divert the attention of the youths from major issues like unemployment.

“For the first time the unemployment rate has crossed all the figures for the last 45 years and in Tripura, the rate has crossed over 28% which is also for the first time in state. The government in the state had promised over 50,000 jobs but they have failed in doing so,” Allavaru added.

He also said that the youth Congress has started a campaign for the youths to register their protest and demand a National Register of Unemployed (NRU) from the Centre.

“The national register of unemployed is the need of the hour and we want the state and Centre government to bring in the NRU so that people can see the total number of unemployed youths across the nation,” Allavaru said.

A number of youth Congress supporters walked the streets here in Agartala on Friday protesting against the BJP led NDA government both in the state and Centre.
