Agartala: In a move to provide better healthcare facilities for people within the state, Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Monday met the president (new initiatives) of Apollo Hospitals, V Satyanarayan Reddy, to discuss on a proposal of setting up a multi-specialty hospital in Agartala.
Speaking with reporters, Reddy said that a formal discussion was held with the chief minister to set up a super-specialty hospital in Agartala.
“We have come here to give a proposal to set up a super-specialty hospital which will consist of cardiology, neurology and nephrology and high healthcare hospital in Agartala. We already have one hospital in Guwahati which is running for the past three years, besides one in Dhaka, Bangladesh which is running for the past eight years,” he said.
The delegation of the ‘new initiatives’ division of Apollo Hospitals also visited the IGM hospital and said that the infrastructure does not look like that of a government hospital, rather it looks like a private one.
“The construction is excellent and we are happy to see such a wonderful building in Agartala. The government is providing us with a building as of now and we are yet to get the proposal from the government once we get the tender process we will work on that and get back to the government. There is a big scope in Northeast because we see a lot of patients coming from the region to Kolkata and Chennai. So, we have the best scope here,” Reddy said.
CM Deb also informed about his meeting with the delegation as he wrote on Twitter, “Had a productive meeting with Mr V. Satyanarayana Reddy, President-New Initiatives, Apollo Hospitals. During our talk discussed on their proposal of setting up a Multi Speciality Hospital in Agartala which will mainly include Cardiology, Neurology & Nephrology facilities. Healthcare infrastructure of State will be reliable once Apollo group set up their hospital here. Patients will not require to visit other states for quality healthcare services, also it will generate revenue and employment for our State”.
