I have come to thank people of Tripura & Cong workers for supporting party in last Parliamentary polls & by-polls, said the AICC general secretary in-charge of state
Agartala: The Congress will soon make a comeback in the Northeastern state with people’s support increasing every passing day, said All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Luizinho Faleiro during his visit to Tripura on Friday.
The senior Congress leader arrived in Agartala with the AICC secretary Bhupen Borah and was received by Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee members through a rousing reception.
Speaking at a press conference, the Tripura in-charge of Congress, Luizinho Faleiro, said that on Friday he held a party meeting with leaders of the PCC and all the units, cells and departments and discussed the next course of action to build the party further in the state.
“I have given them a road map and suggestion for building the party and to reach the people at every level through the membership drive which has already begun in the state. The membership drive will be organised in every single district and sub-division level so that as many people can be reached,” Faleiro said.
He also said that he has come here to thank people of the state and to thank our Congress workers and supporters for supporting Congress party in the last Parliamentary polls followed by the by-polls.
“In the last assembly poll in Tripura, the vote share was 1.8% and in the last Parliamentary poll, it was 25.38%. Similarly, in Nagaland, it was 2.1% and in parliamentary poll 48.11% and in Meghalaya from 28.5% in the last poll and in Parliamentary 47.3%,” Faleiro added.
Speaking further, he said that the Congress party has gone through difficulties but today more than the Congress party it the nation which is going through difficult times.
“The nation is going through a bad phase because there has been a total economic meltdown all across the country. It is not just a drop in the GDP, but also a drop in industrial and agricultural growth. There has been a total collapsed in the economy in terms of financial institutions. The banks are doing badly after the demonetization and millions of jobs have been lost as per the NSSO survey and India has been taken 45 years behind as per the employment scenario,” Faleiro asserted.
Speaking further, he took a dig over chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb and said that prior to the election, several promises were made through vision document, which include one employment in each house, 50,000 jobs in the first year of their government, smartphone to every youth. “Even at the national level, BJP had promised to provide two crore jobs every year, but they did nothing,” Faleiro added.
