Hundreds of people from across state, including leaders of party, will join the protest, says Indigenous Nationalist People of Twipra president Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhwal
Agartala: The Indigenous Nationalist People of Twipra (INPT) has called for a mass protest in Khumulwng, the headquarters of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), demanding implementation of National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the state and scrapping of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB) in Parliament, on October 24.
Speaking with EastMojo, INPT president Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhwal said that all the indigenous political parties will be invited to unite and raise their voice together demanding the scrapping of the CAB and the immediate implementation of NRC.
“We have organised a mass-gathering to protest against the CAB and demanding the implementation of NRC. This Citizenship Amendment Bill would bring disaster to the indigenous people of the Northeast,” he said.
Hrangkhwal also said that hundreds of people from across the state, including the leaders of the indigenous party, will join the protest on October 24 next.
“If this CAB is introduced in the state or in the northeast region and passed in Parliament, then all illegal immigrants living in Tripura and other states of the Northeast will be granted citizenship. Then the existence of indigenous people will be in danger. We are demanding the scrapping of CAB and implementation of NRC in state,” he added.
