The survivor was returning from GB Pant Hospital when she was abducted by an auto rickshaw driver, later joined by others and violated, on Tuesday evening
Agartala: A 35-year-old married woman was allegedly abducted and gangraped by a group of miscreants in Narsingarh area of Tripura’s West Tripura district on Tuesday night.
According to sources, the victim was returning from GB Pant Hospital when she was abducted by an auto rickshaw driver on Tuesday evening. The driver was known to the victim for past two months.
Speaking with reporters, the victim said that she had gone to GB Pant Hospital to see her four-year-old girl child who was undergoing treatment. While returning home, she called the auto rickshaw driver. He reached near GB Pant hospital at 6.45 pm to pick her up from there.
Later, when the auto rickshaw reached Circuit House area, two other persons, namely, Bishal Das and Ajay Saha got into the vehicle and forcefully took it towards Narshingarh area, where another group of people were waiting with an car. After outraging her modesty, they left her near the Circuit House area.
Later, the victim somehow managed to reach home and narrated the incident to her husband, following which an FIR was registered with the police station.
The police started the investigation and managed to nab four persons -- Pradip Das, Priya Manish Roy, Bishal Das and Ajay Saha. The vehicle used in the crime was also seized by the police.
The victim is currently admitted at the GB Pant hospital with severe injuries and is undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Subal Bhowmik met the victim and the family members on Wednesday and criticised the horrific incident which took place in the city and demanded immediate action against the culprits.
West Tripura MP Pratima Bhowmik also condemned the incident and demanded fast investigation over the incident and arrest the rest of the people as soon as possible.
The Tripura Human Rights Commission has also demanded a quick investigation into the case and arrest everyone involved.
