The decision apparently came following the ‘humiliation’ that the royal scion had to face while addressing a meeting at Agartala Congress Bhawan
Agartala: Putting an end to all speculations, Tripura Congress president Pradyot Kishore Manikya DebBarman has announced his resignation from the primary membership of the party citing his differences with the party high command as the reason behind the drastic step.
DebBarman made the announcement after his meeting with Congress working president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi.
On Tuesday, DebBarman posted on Facebook, “Resigned. Woke up today after a long time feeling relaxed. I start this day without having to listen to criminals and liars. Not having to worry about which colleague will back stab you, not having to indulge in groupism and backchat. Not having to listen to 'High Command' on how to accommodate corrupt people in high positions.”
“When I woke up relaxed this morning I realised how my health and my life was being affected because I was not ready to allow wrong elements in our society get into posts and position which would destroy our state,” he added.
“I tried and perhaps I lost but then how could I win when I was alone in this fight from the beginning? I have decided that a positive mindset to life is what I need and I have changed the people around me who are negative. Today I can contribute for my state with a clear and honest mind. The Bubagra in me is more powerful than any political post,” he said.
DebBarman also took to his Twitter account sharing the screenshot of his Facebook post, saying, “Thank you for all your support! I will miss you all and i love you. I am sorry if I couldn’t do enough for u but I really tried”.
The president of the Tripura Congress was allegedly ‘insulted’ during a meeting at state party office for his stand on National Register of Citizens (NRC) and indigenous people’s rights, as per sources.
The decision apparently came following the “humiliation” that Deb Barman faced while addressing a meeting at Agartala Congress Bhawan, where All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary Bhupen Kumar Borah and state party president Birajit Sinha were also present.
