Dilip Das, owner of the cellphone, along with two others, thrashed Kishan Debnath to death after they found the stolen items in his possession, said police sources
Kumarghat: A 20-year-old youth from Rail Colony in Sukantanagar Gram Panchayat under Kumarghat police station of Tripura’s Unakoti district was lynched by a group of people after he was caught with things he had stolen on Monday night.
The deceased, Kishan Debnath, had reportedly stolen a mobile phone, headphones and a bicycle from his neighborhood on Monday night.
The owner of the mobile phone, Dilip Das, along with two others, searched for him and when they found the stolen items in his possession, they started thrashing him, leading to his death.
The mother of the deceased, Mina Sarkar Debnath, rushed to the police station and urged the police to rescue her son from the angry mob. The police rushed to the spot and after rescuing him from the mob took him to the hospital. He was rushed to the Kumarghat Hospital where he died two hours later.
The deceased, Kishan Debnath, had many cases against him.
Meanwhile, the police have arrested three persons, namely, Dilip Das (50), Sukesh Das (55), and Rajan Sutradhar (33), of Sukantanagar in this connection.
The accused persons have been sent to Kailashahar court, which sent them to judicial custody.
