As per govt notification, 298 posts are lying vacant, out of the total strength of 386; department proposes to start recruitment for 150 agriculture officers in first phase
Agartala: Acute shortage of staff has adversely affected the working of the state agriculture and farmers’ welfare department in Tripura.
According to a government notification, altogether 298 posts in the department are lying vacant, out of the total strength of 386. In the 2018-219 financial year, the number of vacant posts was 242, which has now increased to 298 in the current financial year.
More than 60% of state agriculture officers posts are lying vacant across the state. While no recruitment has been made in the past seven years in the department until 2016 when applications for 50 officers were invited. The recruitment in those 50 posts was also called off after the current government came to power.
The recruitment profile of the department of agriculture for the year 2018-19 and 2019-20 is 241 and 298, respectively, a government notification said.
Meanwhile, the department has proposed to start the recruitment process for 150 posts in the first phase.
