Agartala: Members of Rashtriya Gau Raksha Vahini (RGRV) have threatened to launch a state-wide movement, if the state government failed to take adequate steps to prevent the increasing cattle smuggling incidents across Tripura.

Giving an ultimatum of 15 days to state chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb, the state unit of RGRV, while addressing media persons on Tuesday, said that the cattle smuggling is on the rise in the state under the very nose of the state administration.

“The the number of illegal cattle smuggling is increasing in state and even after informing the authorities concerned, including submission of numerous memoranda to chief minister, the state government has failed to take effective measures,” RGRV president Samar J Chakravarte regretted.

The number of smuggling-related cases has increased in the last two months across the state, he alleged. “The Tripura police is maintaining a nexus with the smugglers,” he added..

“We have set an ultimatum of 15 days to the BJP government and if nothing was done within this time, we will look for other ways. We will intensify our agitation,” Chakravarte added.
