Justice Karol, the senior-most judge of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, was recommended as the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court in November last year
Agartala: The Chief Justice of Tripura High Court, Sanjoy Karol, has been appointed as the new Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court by the Collegium of the Supreme Court .
“The Collegium resolves to recommend that Mr. Justice Sanjay Karol, Chief Justice, Tripura High Court, be transferred, in the interest of better administration of justice, to Jharkhand High Court,” the notification reads.
Justice Sanjay Karol, the senior-most Judge of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, was recommended as the new Chief Justice of Tripura High Court in November last year following the elevation of Justice Ajay Rastogi as Judge of the Supreme Court.
Enrolled as a lawyer in 1986, he was was designated as senior advocate in 1998. Justice Karol also served Himachal Pradesh High Court as its Advocate General from 1998-2003.
In March 2007, he was elevated as a Judge of the Himachal Pradesh High Court. In April 2018, he was appointed as the acting Chief Justice of the High Court until Justice Surya Kant Rao took charge.
