Tripura flyover to be inaugurated once vigilance inquiry over: CM

At present, crime branch is interrogating some senior ministers of previous govt regarding scams relating to the flyover in Agartala, says Biplab Kumar Deb

Agartala: Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Tuesday said that the first 2.3-km-long flyover built between Arundhuti Nagar to Fire Brigade Chowmuhani in Agartala would be inaugurated only after the completion of the vigilance inquiry into the alleged scam.

“At present, the crime branch is interrogating some of the senior ministers of the previous government regarding the various scams relating to the flyover. Even the officials of the Investigation team is interrogating some of the officers concerned with the construction of the flyover. Once, all of these get completed and a positive signal is received then this flyover will be open for all,” Deb said on Tuesday evening.

“Even before coming to power, we assured the masses to investigate into all kinds of corruption and scams that took place in different departments of the state government. Accordingly, files of corruption and scams had been submitted to the CBI and other agencies for investigation and unveil the reality before the people,” Deb added.

On the other hand, replying to another query regarding the demand for land from Bangladesh for expansion of runway for flights, the chief minister said that the state government had sent a proposal to the Central government demanding plot of land to increase the length of the runway of the MBB Airport in Agartala to transform and modernised it into an International airport.

He further added that a huge number of Bangladeshi citizens are availing of the MBB Airport to reach various destinations across India for medical treatments and education purposes especially. “Hence, we are expecting that the Bangladesh government may ensure a plot of land for upgrading the MBB airport as soon as possible,” the CM added.
