Mahila Morcha’s decision comes in response to Banerjee’s ‘abusive and unruly action on workers’; ‘Didi’ accused of jailing people who raised the slogan in run-up to LS polls
Tripura: As a part of its nationwide campaign, members of the women’s wing of the state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sent 10,000 postcards with 'Jai Shri Ram' written on them to West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday.
Addressing media persons in Agartala on Thursday morning, president of the women wing of the BJP, Tripura, Papiya Datta, said that 10,000 postcards have been sent to Banerjee from across the state in the first phase. In the next few days, 10,000 more such cards will be sent to the West Bengal CM from across the state.
“West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has lost her mental balance and that’s why she is attacking BJP supporters for chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’, which has no relation with politics. The goons of the Trinamool Congress party have even killed a number of BJP workers across West Bengal. These postcards are being sent from across the state which will be a slap to her unruly governance,” Datta said.
Earlier, national president of BJP’s Mahila Morcha Vijaya Rahatkar said that in the next one month, women of the state will send postcards to West Bengal CM protesting against her decision to put behind bars those chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’.
A total of 5 lakh cards will be sent to Banerjee from across the nation, of which, 20,000 will be from the state’s women’s wing.
The postcards were sent in response to her “abusive and unruly action on BJP supporters in Bengal”, Datta added.
