In a shocking news, one of the biggest stars of Karnataka and the son of legend Rajkumar, ‘power star’ of Kannada cinema Puneeth Rajkumar passed away on Friday at the age of 46, of a heart attack. Puneeth Rajkumar’s death at such a young age has come as a shock for his fans the world over.

Fondly called as ‘Appu’ by his fans, Puneeth played the lead role in 29 films, starting as a child artist.

Puneeth won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist for his role of Ramu in Bettada Hoovu. He also won the State Award for Best Child Artist for his performance in Mondagalu and Yeradu Nakshatragalu.

Puneeth also hosted game show Kannadada Kotyadhipati, a Kannada version of Kaun Banega Crorepati or Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

Appu (2002)

Appu is a romantic action entertainer written and directed by the renowned filmmaker Puri Jagannadh and produced by Parvathamma Rajkumar under the banner of Poornima Enterprises. Puneeth Rajkumar played the main lead role along with actress Rakshita, and supporting actors, Avinash, Srinivasa Murthy, Sumithra, Ashok, Satyajith, Prithviraj, Vinayak Joshi, and Honnavalli Krishna. It is considered to be among Puneeth Rajkumar’s best movies.

Milana (2007)

Milana is another romantic movie with music and action, written and directed by Prakash and produced by K. S. Dushyanth under the banner of Sri Chowdeshwari Cine Creations. Puneeth Rajkumar and Parvathy played the main lead roles along with Dileep Raj, Sumithra, Mukhyamantri Chandru, Sihi Kahi Chandru, Rangayana Raghu, Shobaraj, Arghya Roy, Riyaz.

Arasu (2007)

Arasu stars Puneeth in the title role where he played the character of the son of a business tycoon. In the film, he leaves the inherited property to make his own living after being rejected by a girl.

Jackie (2010)

Jackie was directed by Duniya Soori. The film stars Bhavana in the lead role with Puneeth. The film was adjudged as the Best Film of 2010 at the South Filmfare Awards, the movie received acclaim for its technical prowess, witty dialogues and lyrics. This is undoubtedly among Puneeth Rajkumar best movies.

Hudugru (2011)

Puneeth, Yogesh, Srinagar Kitty and Radhika Pandit, all four starred in the multi-starrer fim directed by K Madesh. It was a remake of 2010 Tamil film Naadodigal. Puneeth won Filmfare and SIIMA Best Actor Award in Kannada for this film.

Raajakumara (2017)

Raajakumara features Puneeth and Priya Anand in lead roles. The action drama was directed and written by Santhosh Ananddram, and was the first to complete 6,000 shows in multiplex within six weeks of hitting the screens. This movie is considered one of his best career milestones.

Puneeth Rajkumar’s death at such an early age due to a heart attack came as a shock to his many fans and he will always be remembered through his best movies in the years to come.
