Tripura govt adopts precautionary measures against Coronavirus

Health officers have been working since January 29 and they have screened over 5,000 people and it will continue till February12 next

Agartala: With the outbreak of Coronavirus, the health department has taken all precautionary measures against the virus and screening desks are also set up by the state health department.

Dr Radha Debbarma, health and family planning department of Tripura, said that following the warning of the union health ministry, necessary steps have been taken to deal with all kinds of situations. Two infrared thermometers have already arrived in Tripura.

EastMojo correspondent visits the Agartala-Akhaura Integrated check post (ICP) to see the ground situation and it was found that over 600 passengers and tourists entering India through Tripura were being screened by the health department.

Dr Himani Debnath, a community health officer, said that they are here screening the Coronavirus which is spreading from Wuhan city, China and they are checking the passenger who is crossing by from Bangladesh to Agartala.

“We are checking all the passengers and after screening, if we find any symptom like fever, coughing and breathing difficulty, we advise them to have home isolation and if they have worse symptoms, then we directly sent them to isolation department of AGMC hospital.”

The community health officers have been working since January 29 and they have screened over 5000 people here at the ICP and it will continue till February 12 next.

“We have requested the airlines to announce that if anyone traveling to Agartala with symptoms of fever, they should come forward and do the screening themselves,” sources in Airport Authority of India (AAI) said.

An isolation ward is also opened at the GBP Hospital in Agartala to keep the patient if suspected to be coronavirus affected.
