NorthEast United FC is going through one of their worst periods in the history of the ISL. Already out of the semi-final race, the team has not come out victorious in any of their last 10 matches. But, the players are not giving up and will look to play their best game when they clash against star-studded Bengaluru FC in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 at PJN Stadium, Margao on Friday. Bengaluru FC had lost their last game against Hyderabad, in which Sunil Chhetri reached the milestone figure of 50 ISL goals. Currently, at 6th position, a win against NEUFC will take them closer to the semi-final spots. The match will start at 7:30 PM IST. It will be telecast live on the Star Sports Network, Disney+ Hotstar and Jio TV.

In spite of having a poor run in this season, NEUFC Head Coach Khalid Jamil believes his players are well prepared for the match. He spoke ahead of the match on the team’s approach against Bengaluru FC and said, “They have experienced players, their team is so good, they’re also working hard but we have also prepared very well, so, will not take this match lightly we have to finish the season. That is why everybody knows that it is a serious game.”

Khalid Jamil had a dream run in the last season of the Indian Super League. This is another reason why the fans are finding it difficult to digest the team’s performances this season. It has been a total collapse. However, the coach believes it is not right to compare and that they have not been able to get the desired results. He said, “We should not think about last year, this is a new season. And talking about this season, yes, everybody worked hard but we didn’t get the result for many reasons. Still, we have three matches, so we must think about it that will be a better solution.”

Both teams have played each other eleven times and NEUFC has won only once.
