Guwahati: Indian Super League (ISL) club NorthEast United FC’s(NEUFC) head coach Gerard Nus shared his heartfelt messages for all the fans of the team especially those in the Northeast. In a press conference ahead of NEUFC’s first match against Mumbai City FC, the head coach was all praise for the fans, saying their love and support keep them energised and motivated.
Speaking about being away from the fans, Nus said, “I feel sorry they cannot be closer to us, we cannot see we cannot talk, these are hard times, and we need to understand that.”

“I want to say, keep sending all those messages, we see it, the players spend a lot of time in the hotel rooms these days, they have all the phones and the laptops, they keep following all the activities of the fans, and they feel the energy. I feel the energy from the fans, from the moment I was announced the head coach of the team, I have felt the love and support. So keep sending those love. Only thing I would like to say is, we gonna fight every single match, sometimes it gonna go in our favour and sometimes it might not, but we surely gonna fight.”, the NEUFC coach further added.
Speaking about the preparations and expectations going ahead in the tournament, Nus said that he, along with the team, will take one game at a time, and currently, all the focus is on the season opener against Mumbai City FC.

Further speaking about the preparations for their season opener, Nus added that several things are taken into consideration while preparing for a game. The strength of the team is an important aspect. However, knowing the strength of the opponent is equally important.

Gerard Nus was roped in by NEUFC as their head coach in August 2020 with the team undergoing a major overhaul in quest for a great season in the tournament. The 35-year old Nus, who holds a UEFA Pro License and a Sports Science Degree, is the youngest head coach in the club’s history.
