The ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League is being played in the UAE in a bio-secure bubble, but malpractices around the game remains in different forms, and Police in India have already busted a few betting rackets.

According to reports, Karnataka Police on Tuesday confirmed that they had arrested four people who were involved in online cricket betting during the 2020 edition of IPL. The Karnataka Police nabbed four persons along with Rs. 4.91 lakh.

The Bengaluru Joint Commissioner of Police, Sandip Patil took to Twitter to confirm about three more betting rackets which had been detected by CCB. "Three more cases of cricket betting detected by CCB during ongoing #IPL2020. Betting done through online apps,", Patil tweeted.

According reports, Patil confirmed that betting was allegedly done using online applications such as Falcon, Lotusbook and Cric365day. The police carried out raids at regions under the police station limits of Puttenahalli, Konanakunte and Byatarayanapura, and four people were arrested along with Rs 4.91 lakhs and six mobile phones.

Earlier in the month, two betting rackets were busted in the country, the first of which was in Bengaluru with three persons being arrested, while in the second incident, the Jaipur Police arrested three persons, for allegedly betting on the ongoing IPL.
