Man Utd congratulates East Bengal FC on centenary year celebrations

The English club also expressed happiness over the red-and-golden brigade’s impending entry in the upcoming season of the Indian Super League

Guwahati: English football legendary club, Manchester United sent a letter to East Bengal FC, congratulating them on their centenary celebrations. The English club also expressed their happiness over the red-and-golden brigade’s impending entry in the upcoming season of the Indian Super League.

“We would like to hereby congratulate East Bengal Football Club and the millions of East Bengal Fans for its Centenary year celebrations. We are well aware about the rich history of your Club and its colourful journey since 1st of August 1920,” the letter from the Manchester United tour director Christoffer Komen, addressed to East Bengal Club general secretary Kalyan Majumder read.

A four-member team headed by the director of football Allan Dawson had met the East Bengal officials and West Bengal sports minister, Aroop Biswas, in November last year, contemplating a pre-season tour to India this term.

Thanking the Kolkata club for their excellent hospitality, the letter read, “We must also thank you for the wonderful experience we had during our recent site visit to your club at Kolkata.”

Expressing happiness about East Bengal’s latest entry into the Indian Super League, the letter from the Red Devils reads, “We are also happy to know that all the efforts will be made to see East Bengal figuring in this season’s Indian Super League and we hereby send our best wishes for your new journey.”

Thanking the Manchester United for their appreciation and constant support, the East Bengal FC took to their official Facebook page and uploaded the letter with a post on Tuesday.

“We send our special thanks to Manchester United for the words of motivation and appreciation. We are obliged for receiving a “Congratulations” from your end and we are happy for such a kind gesture,” East Bengal FC wrote in their Facebook post.
