Bayern Munich stormed into the Champions League final, as they registered an emphatic 3-0 win over Olympique Lyonnais in the semifinal, led by two goals from Serge Gnabry on Wednesday.

Lyon, who upset Juventus and Manchester City in the previous rounds, seemed to start off well with Memphis Depay nearly opening the scoring inside of 10 minutes for the underdogs, followed by another missed chance that came from Karl Toko Ekambi.

A mere 58 seconds after the second missed opportunity — which, in a different universe, could have given the French side a 2-0 lead, Gnabry made Lyon pay for their missed chances, as he fired one with his left foot in the 18th minute, taking Bayern 1-0 ahead of Lyon.

He then followed that up 15 minutes later with a poached goal off a rebounded save, thus sending Bayern into half-time with a 2-0 lead.

Lyon were able to get some domination on the ball in the second half, but the final 45 minutes saw some more wasted chances for them with Moussa Dembele particularly guilty of shooting right at Neuer after coming on as a substitute in the 58th minute.

Although Bayern lacked the intensity of their first-half display, it was Robert Lewandoski in the 88th minute, who missed several chances throughout the game, headed in a Joshua Kimmich free kick for his 55th goal in all competitions during the 2019-20 campaign, thus finishing the match with a score of 3-0 for Bayern.

After the match, Bayern full-back Alphonso Davies said: "It feels good. Everyone is happy and playing well.” Speaking about reaching the finals he said “We are happy to make it to the final. PSG is a good team, right now we celebrate a bit then we focus on the next game.”

Bayern will take on PSG in the Champions League final on Sunday. After convincingly beating Chelsea, Barcelona and now Lyon, Bayern will surely start as favourites going into the final.
