Gangtok: A 27-year-old woman, identified as Rekha Singh from Chapra District of Bihar, was found dead in a Gangtok hotel Thursday evening. Her husband Kumar Gyaneshwar (31) is missing.
According to the hotel staff and sources in Sikkim Police, the couple had checked in the hotel on December 27 and had booked a room till December 30.
“The couple had mentioned their relationship status as husband and wife. The duo was supposed to check out of the hotel today. However, even after knocking on the room door several times, no one opened the door. We suspected some foul play and informed the local police,” a hotel staff, who did not wish to be named, said.
“The police came to the hotel and found the woman’s body on the bed,” added the hotel staff.
According to the hotel staff, the woman’s husband was last seen going out of the hotel on December 28. The body of the deceased has been taken for autopsy to STNM Hospital.
As per police sources, the case is under investigation and the Bihar police has already been intimated.
