Gangtok, Dec 8: BJP Legislator and former three-time Minister Dorjee Tshering Lepcha termed the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha and Bharatiya Janata party’s alliance in Sikkim as ‘mere eyewash and undignified’.

The former Sikkim Democratic Front legislator asserted, “Perhaps the CM would not become a CM, if we would not have joined the BJP or if the BJP was not around. What would have happened during the by-polls (in Namchi Singhithang).”

MLA DT Lepcha made the statement while interacting with the media after the last day of the Assembly session.

Speaking on the issue of Limboo Tamang seat reservation in Sikkim Legislative Assembly, which he had raised in the Assembly a day before, Lepcha added, “In 2006, the present CM was there as a part of the committee as a minister, why didn’t he speak then? Why blame the previous government and question when they are yet to form any committee like the SDF government in the past? We formulated the Burman Commission to provide seats to the communities. But what the SKM government has done so far is not satisfying…there was no explanation given during the assembly hours. The CM only blamed the former government for the delay rather than doing some concrete work. If they come up with any formula, then we will also support them, only after seeing their formula.”
