Gangtok: Sikkim will rejuvenate its vaccination drive from June 10 after almost two weeks of no vaccinations for the 18-44 age category. The online slots on the COWIN site will open on June 9 at 8 am.
Earlier, the slots used to open at 6 am, but now the timing has been changed. The online approved vaccination will only take place at Thakurbari Mandir vaccination centre in MG Marg and STNM Hospital for the 18-44 age group.
There will be no vaccination on Sunday, therefore, no slots will be open on Saturday. For Monday, slots will open on Sunday.
North District will have both on-site vaccinations as well 20 online slots every day. They will be published at 8.00 am for June 10 vaccination at Mangan.
Taking the technology and internet concern for other districts out of the equation, rural parts of East District, South District and West District will have only on-site vaccination for State specified priority list after filling the prescribed format given.
The state government had earlier notified 13 priority groups inclusive of the immediate family of health workers and employees under the State Bank of Sikkim, among many others, for vaccination.
In the districts, panchayats, councillors, health staff, and ASHA workers must be contacted before going for vaccination.
People vaccinated with 1st dose and crossing 28 days going for international travel before 31 August Will be given special vaccination as per the central ruling. Students taking foreign travel for education. Persons having jobs in foreign countries.
Athletes, sportspersons, and accompanying staff of the Indian contingent attending the International Olympic Games to be held in Tokyo will be vaccinated on a priority basis.
Such individuals or groups need to submit a document of proof leaving for abroad along with their passport to get the 2nd dose of COVID-19 Vaccine.
For the above 45 age group, some are not coming for vaccination. The Health department requested them to come for vaccination. For the age category, special vaccination sites have started for people with no IDs, they can come with the required formats filled and signed by panchayats or councillors of respective areas and also by ASHA workers of that area.
