Gangtok: A few days after EastMojo reported about poor drainage issues plaguing the COVID-19 ward of STNM Hospital in Sikkim, construction of drains is now underway.
On April 28, EastMojo reported about the COVID-19 ward getting flooded after a moderate rainfall that lasted just about two hours in Gangtok.
Doctors and nurses in the COVID-19 section have been complaining to the authorities that the newly inaugurated COVID-19 hospital, set up in the second half of 2020, had already been suffering from poor drainage issues.

The ground floor, which houses the flu clinic where all the tests are conducted along with CT scan and X-ray machines, was filled with slush from the entire hospital, making way to the COVID-19 section.
The COVID-19 section is located below the main nine-storey tall STNM Hospital.
On Sunday, this EastMojo reporter visited the COVID-19 section and found that construction for the drainage system was underway.
Labourers as well as contractors were seen on the field carrying out construction work.
