Gangtok: On April 23, Sikkim recorded 67 new cases of COVID 19, now the State tally has breached the seven thousand mark with 7,037. What is alarming is, 802 of those cases came in 20 days in April.
East Sikkim yet again recorded the major chunk of new cases with 60 new cases being reported in the district. This comes the day after the district recorded 107 cases on April 22. Collectively the district has recorded 5,331 cases, the most in the State.
594 of the 802 cases in April have been recorded from East Sikkim with a majority of them being from the State capital.

West Sikkim which had no new cases on Thursday, recorded three new cases on Friday. The district has accounted for 383 cases so far.
North Sikkim also recorded three new cases taking the district tally to 88 COVID 19 cases so far. 33 of those cases have come in the last 16 days.
South Sikkim recorded one single case taking the district tally to 1083 with 91 of those cases being recorded in the last 18 days.
Rangpo Checkpost, the gateway to East Sikkim had 216 tourists enter the state with four being foreign nationals. 8 RAT tests were conducted with no case being positive.
The count of active cases in the State has now risen to 693. There were 47 active cases till the end of March.
