GANGTOK: Two festivities coincided on the same day on April 14. To begin with, the 130th BR Ambedkar Jayanti was celebrated inside the premises of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly. The public event was attended by Chief Minister Prem Singh Golay along with Member of Parliament Indra Hang Subba, cabinet ministers, and various government officials.
Chief Minister Golay and the cabinet ministers garlanded the statue of BR Ambedkar on the occasion.
Following the congregation, Chief Minister Prem Singh Golay led the public on a foot rally ‘Baisakhi Shobha Yatra’ from Sikkim Legislative Assembly to Manan Kendra. The gathering had members from various communities of Sikkim along with students.
While COVID-19 protocols were maintained with masks being a compulsion, social distancing went for a toss during the rally.
