Sikkim: Education minister Kunga Nima Lepcha rushed to Delhi for Septicimia
Gangtok: Sikkim's Education Minister Kunga Nima Lepcha was taken to New Delhi on Wednesday morning for treatment related to Septicemia, a serious bloodstream infection.
The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) leader was admitted to Sir Thutob Namgyal Memorial (STNM) Hospital on Tuesday night at around 9.30. His pre-existing leg condition got worse, and his blood pressure shot up, said Biskash Basnett, SKM senior leader.
Lepcha will be treated at BLK Super Speciality Hospital.
He was flown in a Pawan Hans helicopter from Gangtok to Siliguri and is headed to Delhi in an air ambulance from Baghdogra. Two family members and a small medical team are accompanying him.
Lepcha is one of the founding members of SKM, alongside Chief Minister Prem Singh Golay and rural development minister Sonam Lama. He was a bureaucrat in the Sikkim government before he made his move to the SKM party in 2009.
