Night curfew has also been imposed in Sikkim from 7.30 pm to 6 am

Guwahati: In a bid to curb the spread of COVID-19, Sikkim government has imposed a total lockdown of one week across the state, effective from July 21 to 27. Also, night curfew has been imposed from 7.30 pm to 6 am.

An order from the home department of Sikkim said all government offices, shops, commercial establishments, institutions, markets and factories shall remain closed, except where a specific exemption is granted.

All activities and movement of persons, goods and passenger vehicles have been restricted, except the following:

  • Movement of people and vehicle including vehicles required for supply of essential goods.

  • Shops dealing in essential items shall remain open from 8 am to 5 pm daily. Medical shops shall remain open till 7 pm.

  • Movement of people and vehicle required for maintenance of all essential services like hospital, banks, power supply, media personnel etc. They should have an ID card/ deployment letter on them at all times.

  • Movement of people and vehicles , including private vehicles and taxis, required in case of medical emergency shall be allowed.

  • For inter-state movement, people, passengers and goods vehcles only for essential goods and supplies will be authorities, or in case of medical emergencies.

  • For occasions like marriage and funerals, not more than 20 people shall be allowed, with proper intimation to the local police.

  • MGNERGA work, agricultural, horticultural and animal husbandry related activities in rual area, observing social distancing.

  • Secuity services and courier services

However, all educational, training and coaching institutions shall remain closed till August 31.

Sikkim has so far reported 283 cases of COVID-19, of which, 193 are active cases, 90 have been cured and two have migrated to other states.
