Geyzing: A 39-year-old man has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting his 13-year-old stepdaughter in West Sikkim.
The accused is a native of Rinchenpong constituency in West Sikkim. The incident came to light when the victim complained of sickness and her elder sister took her to nearby Primary Health Centre (PHC) where she was found to be pregnant. The victim was later taken to the district hospital in Geyzing for further medical examination.
The PHC administration then informed the Kaluk Police Station about the matter and the accused was arrested on the basis of an FIR filed by the relatives of the victim.
Additional Superintendent of Police (West) PVG Satish informed that the accused has been sent to 15 days’ judicial custody and the case is under investigation.
