Gangtok: The police arrested three persons with brown sugar worth Rs 10 lakh in the international market from Rangpo in East Sikkim on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.

According to sources, the apprehended persons have been identified as Durga Subba, 38, a resident of Jublee Line, Singtam; Sonu Chaudhary, 34, of Singtam; and Dhiraj Agarwal, 31, of Singtam. They were arrested under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act).

“There was a source information that these people were coming from Siliguri in a private vehicle with the brown sugar. The vehicle was intercepted and the substance was recovered at Majitar,” said sources.
