The head of state of the country will grace 5th convocation of Sikkim University on Sunday; a day later, he will be part of 26th convocation of NEHU in Shillong
Sikkim: President of India Ram Nath Kovind, accompanied by first lady Savita Kovind, arrived in state capital Gangtok on Saturday o a two-day visit to Sikkim.
On Sunday, the President will grace the 5th convocation of Sikkim University in Gangtok and a day later, on Monday, he will grace the 26th convocation of the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya.
Kovind was received upon arrival at the Army Helipad in Libing by Sikkim governor Ganga Prasad, chief minister PS Golay, Sikkim Legislative Assembly Speaker LB Das, cabinet ministers, MPs, MLAs, chief secretary SC Gupta, Sikkim DGP A Shankar Rao, ad GoC of 17th Mtn Division Major General Ram Chandra Tiwari, among many others.
After receiving the guard of honour from the 17th Battalion of the Rajput Regiment under 17 Mtn Division of the Army, the President -- who is also the chief of the armed forces in the country -- and his entourage proceeded towards Raj Bhawan in Gangtok.
