Gangtok: Assam’s Kaliabor MP Gaurav Gogoi on his visit to Sikkim as the new Sikkim Pradesh Congress state-in-charge on Monday alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to destabalise entire Northeast.
Addressing a press conference, Gogoi alleged that after forming its government in the country, BJP’s latest target is Sikkim where it has plans of forming its government through back door entry.
“Sikkim is going through a very important phase at present. The political scenario has become chaotic due to the horse-trading done of the political leaders,” he said.
Like NRC in Assam, CAB and Naga peace framework, BJP has no respect for Sikkim and Sikkimese sentiments. They only want to impose their thoughts of “one code, one law”, he stressed.
Gogoi further referred to the ruling party – Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) as the Trojan horse who helped BJP enter Sikkim just to save their leader and his post as chief minister. He also added that ECI has taken an extra-ordinary decision in giving relief to chief minister PS Golay right before the by-election.
“It is a sad thing to witness SKM disrespecting the public mandate by alliancing with BJP. SKM had promised to keep Sikkim and its people before everything but to save their leader, they failed in keeping their words”, he added.
As the new state-In-charge of Sikkim Pradesh Congress, Gogoi assured to work as a brother of every Sikkimese and raise the issues of the state in the parliament.
“Congress is the only party who have maintained peace, special bond and protection to NE. We will continue to protect Indian constitution and the special rights. I will deliver our message to people that our constitution and constitutional rights of Sikkim is in danger and only Congress can defend it. It is not easy but we have to struggle as there is light in the end,” assured Gogoi.
